About Flange Management

Flange Management B.V. is an independent engineering company based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We provide flange joint engineering, independent Engineering Reviews, Flange Management Verification and technical documentation for critical bolted joints in industrial installations.

We support asset owners, project engineers, mechanical engineers, integrity engineers, contractors, maintenance teams and inspection teams that need clear, traceable and defensible flange joint documentation.

Our work covers single flange joints, project scopes, shutdowns, turnarounds, QA packages and plant-wide flange integrity programs.

What we do

Flange joints are critical points in industrial systems. When assumptions, calculations, make-up requirements or documentation are unclear, the risk of leakage, inspection findings and operational uncertainty increases.

Flange Management helps clients create structured engineering evidence and traceable records for flange joints. This can include joint assessments, independent Engineering Reviews, input checks, Flange Management Verification records, project documentation, exception reporting and support for maintenance, turnaround and inspection files.

We work with selected standards, materials, gasket data, bolt properties, friction assumptions and operating conditions. Our focus is to make the engineering basis and practical flange make-up requirements visible, reviewable and easier to defend.

FlangeUp® engineering environment

FlangeUp® is the digital engineering environment used by Flange Management. It structures flange joint intake, Preliminary Reports, Engineering Review Reports, Flange Management Verification and optional publication in the Register. It supports evidence handling and workflow control; it does not make or replace the independent engineering decision.

For one flange joint, FlangeUp® provides a direct route to a traceable joint record and Preliminary Report. From that same saved input, the customer can request an Engineering Review. When the review supports release and the applicable engineering gates are satisfied, Flange Management may issue a Verification.

Where formal engineering documentation is required, the submitted data and preliminary output form the input to an Engineering Review Report for the applicable engineering route. A Preliminary Report is not automatically converted into an approved engineering decision.

For larger scopes, FlangeUp® can be used as the digital entry point for Project Engineering Review Packages, flange lists, shutdown scopes, turnaround dossiers and QA documentation.

This makes flange joint data easier to submit, review, analyse, document and share.

Flange Management Verification

Flange Management Verification is the controlled, company-issued release record for one identified flange joint following an Engineering Review.

It records the validated joint identity, selected engineering basis, review decision, issue date, Flange Management code and publication status. It is not issued merely because a calculation has run.

The Verification record is based on the reviewed engineering route. It can remain private or, with the customer’s explicit approval, be published in the Register as a Register Entry for public traceability.

Practical engineering tools

In addition to engineering review, verification records and documentation workflows, Flange Management develops practical inspection and measurement tools for flange joint integrity.

This includes Thread Elongation Gauges for checking permanent deformation in bolt threads.

Our approach

We believe flange engineering should be clear, traceable and practical.

We do more than calculate values. We document the selected input, engineering basis, assumptions, review decision, practical make-up requirements and released output.

That documentation matters when flange joints are reviewed during maintenance, inspection, project handover, QA review or incident investigation.

Who we support

We support industrial clients and engineering teams working in refineries, petrochemical plants, gas processing, LNG, power generation, utilities and other critical mechanical systems.

Our work is relevant for maintenance projects, turnaround scopes, engineering review, inspection review, verification records and long-term plant records.

Standards and engineering routes

Our engineering analyses and review decisions are based on the selected flange standard, applicable technical data and relevant engineering methodology.

For formal Engineering Review documentation, Flange Management supports engineering routes such as EN 1591-1:2024 and ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1, Mandatory Appendix 2:2025, depending on the selected flange joint, applicable requirements and available input data.

FlangeUp® can create flange joint records, Engineering Review records and Verification records from submitted and reviewed data. These records support traceability, but do not replace site procedures, statutory inspection requirements or the final responsibility of the plant owner/operator.

Where project requirements apply, assumptions, deviations and input issues can be documented for review.

Our aim

Our aim is to help clients move from scattered flange data to clear, structured flange joint documentation.

Whether the question comes during maintenance, inspection, project handover or incident review, the goal is the same: make the engineering basis and practical flange make-up record visible, traceable and easier to defend.
